Tikki Hywood Trust

Operating in Zimbabwe since 1994, The Tikki Hywood Trust is raising awareness about the plight of lesser-known wildlife species and supporting the development of sound conservation practices. The on-the-ground rescue center rescues and rehabilitates orphaned, injured, and displaced wildlife with a focus on pangolin. The Trust collaborates with wildlife stakeholders, law enforcement officers and legislators in Zimbabwe to create opportunities to address and prosecute wildlife crimes.

The Tikki Hywood Trust has become one of the top advocates for the plight of the pangolin, which is considered the most trafficked mammal in the world. Unfortunately, this small and elusive species does not garner amount of media attention it needs worldwide. Their work has resulted in 81 arrests of pangolin poachers and 40 convictions, all receiving the maximum 9-year sentence.
